Forza Motorsport PC System Requirements

Forza Motorsport is the latest installment in the popular racing game series from Microsoft Xbox. From what we have seen so far, Forza Motorsport is a graphical showcase, with stunning visuals that are said to be the most realistic ever seen in a racing game.

The developer Turn 10 Studios and publisher Xbox have published the PC system requirements for Forza Motorsport and they are beefier than expected. Especially after the really well-optimized and pretty-looking Forza Horizon 5.

The game features dynamic weather and time of day, as well as a new damage model that will show the effects of collisions on your car. The game also features a new physics engine that is said to be more realistic than ever before. This will allow for more precise handling and control of your car. This explains the beefier requirements for the game.

The PC system requirements for Forza Motorsport are as follows:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1060 or AMD RX 5500 XT
  • Storage: 130GB available space

Recommended requirements:

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-11600k or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
  • Memory: 16GB RAM
  • Graphics: AMD RTX 2080 Ti or AMD RX 6800 XT
  • Storage: 130GB available space
Forza Motorsport PC System Requirements

The minimum requirements are fairly modest, so most gaming PCs should be able to run Forza Motorsport. However, the recommended requirements are much more demanding, so you’ll need a high-end PC if you want to experience the game at its best.

However, it is not clear what resolution and framerates the minimum requirement is targeting. If we have to assume, the minimum settings can be targeting 60fps at 1080p low settings.

Given the jump from RX 5500 XT to RTX 2080 Ti, the recommended settings look like 60fps or 30fps at 1440p high settings. Forza Motorsport is a visually stunning game, and it will take a powerful PC to run it at its full potential.

Ideal Requirements:

  • Processor: Intel Core i7-11700k or AMD Ryzen 5 7800X
  • Memory: 16GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia RTX 4080 or AMD RX 7900 XT
  • Storage: 130GB available space

The Ideal settings recommend a Ryzen 7 5800X/ Intel i7-11700K for processors and AMD RX 7900 XT/ Nvidia RTX 4080 which might be targeting 4K resolution at high settings for 60fps. If you’re planning on playing Forza Motorsport on PC, I recommend making sure your system meets the recommended requirements.

Forza Motorsport Performance Features

The surprising thing is the RAM requirements. For minimum requirements, you only require 8GB RAM and 16GB for recommended and ideal settings. In addition to the system requirements, there are a few other things to keep in mind. First, the game requires Windows 10 or 11. Second, you’ll need to have a 64-bit operating system. Third, you’ll need to have at least 130GB of free space and a compulsory SSD.

Forza Motorsport will use shader pre-compilation and pre-caching, which is a feature that already exists in Forza Horizon 5. This will prevent shader compilation stutter during gameplay. The game also supports DirectStorage, which will improve CPU performance when loading files to memory. This will result in faster track loading.

For single-player racing, unlocked framerates with or without V-Sync are supported. However, in multiplayer, framerates are locked to ensure a consistent and competitive online racing experience for all players. Please note that the first time you launch Forza Motorsport on PC, the home space and menu navigation will be locked to 30FPS by default. However, you can unlock this in the video options menu.

Is there DLSS and FSR for Forza Motorsport?

Forza Motorsport has been optimized to look and play great on a wide range of PCs, from budget to high-end. The game supports native resolutions up to 4K and beyond, and can even render ultrawide and non-standard resolutions for on-track gameplay.

The minimum requirements are fairly modest, so most gaming PCs should be able to run the game at 1080p with high settings. However, if you want to experience the game at its best, you’ll need a high-end PC with a powerful graphics card. If you have something like RTX 3060 or RTX 2060 or RX 6700XT, you might benefit from upscaling to run at 1440p or 4K.

Forza Motorsport will support DLSS 2 and FSR 2

Forza Motorsport also supports real-time ray tracing on-track, which can make the game look even more realistic and demanding. However, the requirements for ray tracing have not been detailed.

To improve performance, Forza Motorsport supports NVIDIA DLSS 2 and AMD FSR 2.2. These upscaling techniques can reduce the load on your PC by rendering the game at a lower resolution and then upscaling it to your monitor’s native resolution. This can result in a significant improvement in performance without sacrificing image quality.

Forza Motorsport compatibility with racing wheels

Forza Motorsport is compatible with popular racing wheels from Logitech, Thrustmaster, and Fanatec. You can also use the DirectInput API on PC to connect a wider range of hardware. This means that more players can use their custom hardware setups with Forza Motorsport.

If you’re planning on using a racing wheel with Forza Motorsport, I recommend making sure it’s compatible with the game. You can find a list of compatible racing wheels on the Forza Motorsport website.

Here are some additional tips for running Forza Motorsport well when it releases:

  1. Make sure your drivers are up to date.
  2. Close any unnecessary programs before you start the game.
  3. Use a high-quality monitor.
  4. Set the graphics settings to a level that your PC can handle.
  5. Use a racing wheel if you have one.
  6. With these tips, you should be able to run Forza Motorsport on PC without any problems.

Forza Motorsport will be released on October 10th for both PC and Xbox Series X|S consoles. It will be available on Xbox Game Pass for console, PC, and Cloud Gaming from day one. You can preorder the game today on Steam and on the Microsoft Store.
