Biggest games coming out in October 2022

Biggest game releases of October 2022

Last Updated on May 19, 2024 by Team Yantra

September was not very good for games with only a couple of games that caught some attention. Although September saw major gaming events and conventions announcing a lot of stuff for the last quarter of 2022 and for 2023.

While we are excited about games coming out in future, October has some major releases lined up from Call of Duty to the second instalment of Plague Tale.

Let’s take a look at the biggest game releases of October 2022.

Overwatch 2

Overwatch is one of the most popular and influential battle-royale games and it is getting a second installment. Overwatch 2 is a first-person shooter developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment.

The sequel will have a shared environment for player-versus-player modes with the first game, while introducing persistent cooperative modes. With the release of Overwatch 2, Overwatch Prime will disappear, so only Overwatch 2 will exist starting October 4th.

Overwatch 2 releases on October 4 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Switch.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers

DRAGON BALL: THE BREAKERS is an online asymmetrical action game in which a band of 7 ordinary citizens tries to survive the Raider (a classic DRAGON BALL rival such as Cell or Frieza), who will hunt and evolve into an unstoppable force.

The story involves seven ordinary people who have to escape the time seam they are stuck in. You don’t have any Saiyan power or Regeneration ability to fight them. Your only option is to escape them.

The game sounds fun to play with fellow Dragon Ball fans without the usual flashy powers.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers releases on October 14 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Switch.

New Tales from the Borderlands

This is a spin-off of the mainstay Borderlands, is an upcoming graphic adventure video game developed by Gearbox Studio Québec and published by 2K.

It is a visual adventure game similar to Tales from the Borderlands in which the player must manoeuvre the game’s protagonist throughout the world’s landscape, explore their surroundings, accomplish quick-time events, and make narrative decisions that may influence the ending of the story.

Each character has its own set of accessories. Anu has high-tech spectacles that allow her to scan objects; Octavio can access other people’s social media profiles and hack into their gadgets, and Fran can use her hoverchair to freeze foes.

New Tales from Borderlands releases on October 21 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Switch.

Scorn

Scorn has been in development for quite a while now but it will be finally released. Scorn is a survival-horror game where you will have to escape and find the secrets of a labyrinth/facility.

There are no dialogues in the game and you only rely on a small biochemical weapon. Scorn is visually very bland, dark and brooding which might appeal to many people but it certainly captures the horror theme very well.

How well the environmental story-telling works, needs to be seen.

Scorn releases on PC and Xbox exclusively on October 21.

A Plague Tale: Requiem

A Plague Tale: Requiem is a sequel to the critically acclaimed A Plague Tale: Innocence. After escaping their devastated homeland, Amicia and Hugo travel far south, to new regions and vibrant cities. There, they attempt to start a new life and control Hugo’s curse.

But, when Hugo’s powers reawaken, death and destruction return in a flood of devouring rats. Forced to flee once more, the siblings place their hopes on a prophesized island that may hold the key to saving Hugo.

This installment will see a little more combat compared to the first part so that’s a little exciting. The story was captivating in the first part and we expect the same in this.

A Plague Tale: Requiem releases on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Switch.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

The very awaited sequel to the remake of the Modern Warfare series. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will pick up directly after Modern Warfare which was released in 2019.

Players will be dropped into an unprecedented global conflict that features the return of the iconic Operators of Task Force 141. From small-scale, high-stakes infiltration tactical ops to highly classified missions, players will deploy alongside friends in a truly immersive experience.

It will include a story-driven single-player campaign, multiplayer combat and a co-op Special Ops experience.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releases on October 28 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and macOS.

Gotham Knights

Gotham Knights is an open-world, action RPG set in the most dynamic and interactive Gotham City yet. Patrol Gotham’s five distinct boroughs in solo or in co-op and drop in on criminal activity wherever you find it.

You will be dropped in Gotham City where Batman is dead and the city has been overrun with criminals and it is up to the Bat Family – Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin to protect the city.

Gotham Knights look very promising with its combat and setting. If the story is good, Gotham Knights can be the superhit superhero game of this year.

Gotham Knights release on October 21 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
