Nvidia recently announced the RTX 40 series Super graphics cards that include the RTX 4070 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super (ridiculous name!) and RTX 4080 Super. The three graphics card will see a staggered release, RTX 4070 Super being the first one to go live.
Generally, the existing RTX 4070 stacks of cards are considered the better value among the latest generation of graphics cards from Nvidia (or even considering AMD). RTX 4070 Super is now replacing the RTX 4070 Ti as Nvidia has stopped the production of 4070Ti and RTX 4080.
Here is a complete report of the new RTX 4070 Super, its performance, value in the market and its pricing.
RTX 4070 Super Gaming Performance
RTX 4070 Super is a mid to high-range graphics card capable of high-refresh 1440p gaming and 4K gaming. The gaming performance in general is a capable graphics card sitting between RTX 4070 and RTX 4080.
Compared to the RTX 4070, the Super version is about 16% faster in 1440p and 4K rasterisation performance. This is a good uplift in performance but it doesn’t manage to defeat RTX 4070Ti which is still about 5 – 7% faster.
For individual games, check these benchmarks from various sources:
Compared to the Red Team’s Radeon RX 7800XT, RTX 4070 Super is about 8 – 10% in 1440p and 4K rasterisation performance. In ray tracing, the difference in performance becomes larger.
In ray tracing, the RTX 4070 Super is about 10% faster than the RTX 4070 and about 7% slower than the RTX 4070Ti. Compared to the AMD Radeon RX 78000XT, the RTX 4070 Super is about 18-20% faster in Ray tracing performance.
Highlights:
- On average, RTX 4070 Super sits in between RTX 4070 and RTX 4070Ti. It is about 16% faster than RTX 4070 and about 9% slower than the RTX 4070Ti.
- Compared to the AMD’s closest competition, RX 7800XT, it is about 9% faster. However, in terms of the ray tracing performance, the performance gap widens in favour of RTX 4070 Super.
- There is hardly any performance difference between different resolutions like 1440p and 4K.
RTX 4070 Super Value in the Current Market
Note: The value aspect might vary considerably depending on the region. The observation here will be for the Indian market at the time of release.
The RTX 4070 Super has the official MSRP of 63,000 INR which is quite higher than the current price of RTX 4070 of around 52,000 INR. However, in India, the AIB models are going for less than INR 59,000 which is great for its value proposition.
As of now, the 4070 Super is 13% more expensive for a performance uplift of about 16% which is good enough and becomes a better alternative to the RTX 4070Ti. RTX 4070 Ti is about 72,000 INR which is too expensive for its performance.
So, is RTX 4070 Super good value?
Here is a value chart of mid-high-range cards in the current market.\
RTX 4070 Super has substantially better value than the RTX 4070 and RTX 4070 Ti but it is still not better in comparison to AMD RX 7800XT. However, RTX 4070 Super has DLSS which is objectively better and also performs better in Ray Tracing which can offset the value.

Conclusion
The price of RTX 4070 Super will most probably continue to fall which will make it much more viable as a good option for a GPU in the 50,000 to 60,000 INR range. While RX 7800XT is a slightly better value, it is still slower in raster performance and ray tracing performance.
At the higher price range, Nvidia is known to overprice their cards but it is not the case with RTX 4070 Super. With better power efficiency, Nvidia’s premium features, at INR 59,000 RTX 4070 Super is a worthy purchase.
