The highly anticipated phone from Nothing will finally launch in India and around the world in the Q3 of 2022. Nothing which is owned by former OnePlus co-founder, Carl Pei.
Not many details about the price and specifications were revealed. Although Carl Pei and CEO were more forthcoming on the software and design language of the upcoming Phone 1.
The phone will be powered by Snapdragon Soc with the goodness of Android as the operating system. Just like other Android phones, Nothing will have its own Android skin called Nothing OS.
A still shot of the home interface of Nothing OS was put out but it doesn’t offer many details in terms of what the software can do. Pei claims that the Nothing Phone 1 will offer the best pure Android experience while giving plenty of freedom in personalisation.
The user will be able to personalise fonts, graphics and sound elements depending on the user’s preferences. The dotted fonts, black-and-white colours and graphics reflect the brand’s design language.
The press release by Nothing states that the Nothing OS will provide the best of Android, delivering just the essentials, where every byte will have a purpose.
Nothing also promises to deliver much less bloatware than the competition and minimal animations and design consistency to provide a much faster and smoother user experience.
A preview of Nothing OS will be available in April via its launcher which will be available to download on a selected few models of smartphones.
Revealing more details about the design language of the Nothing phone (1), the company says
It is designed to deliver a fast, smooth and personal experience. A coherent interface, the hardware seamlessly integrates with software through bespoke fonts, colours, graphical elements and sounds.
Nothing as a company wants to be built on an open and seamless ecosystem. Just like how Apple has built a seamless ecosystem across its various products, Nothing aims to do the same with its products, but even with outside technology.
Nothing OS is built on an open and seamless ecosystem that will effortlessly connect and integrate Nothing products and products from other world-leading brands.
Last year, Nothing launched its Ear 1 wireless earbuds which was an instant hit among the masses and saw success in India too. Riding on the success of Ear 1, Nothing wants to bring out a phone that excites the audience.
Manu Sharma, the Vice President of Nothing India says that “We need to bring back the optimism which has been lost, the passion which has been lost, and the excitement that consumers have when they buy a new product, new tech”
With all the claims that the company is making about its first phone, it looks promising, but it needs to be seen if it will live up to its promises.
In the coming months, the company will bring in more announcements regarding the phone (1).
