Design and Screen of Nothing Phone(1)

Let’s start with the design of the phone. The Nothing has tried to distinguish itself from the current bunch of the phones. At first look, your eyes will go over two things, transparent back and resemblance to iPhone.

The transparent back of the phone houses something new and interesting – The glyph interface. It is a group notification LED’s that can perform some functions. Like lighting up leds based on the ringtone, battery charge indicator, wireless charger indicator etc.

The display of the phone is 6.55 inches, 1080 × 2400 pixels OLED display. The refresh rate of the phone is 120 HZ along with 360 Hz touch sample rate, which as per Carl Pei will make your interaction with the phone really smooth.

One interesting thing about the display Carl Pei told in the live stream was about the use of the Flexible OLED display.

Camera of the Nothing Phone (1)

Unlike the popular trend, The Nothing Phone (1) only has two back cameras. This goes against the general norm these days with a phone having 4-5 cameras.

“So Phone (1) has just two cameras. Two superb ones. Not four mediocre ones.”

Nothing

This is the more logical step. There is one 50 MP wide camera, which is a Sony IMX766 sensor. The ULtrawide camera is also 50 MP, which is Samsung JN1 sensor.

The main 50 MP camera has ƒ/1.88 aperture and 1/1.56” sensor size. The camera also has dual OIS and EIS stabilisation.

Performance of the Phone(1)

The Phone (1) is powered by Snapdragon 778+, a decent mid-range chip. The chip is based on TSMC 6 nm process.

The processor of the phone offers good performance and even has a capable GPU in the form of Adreno 642L. You will be able to enjoy most games in High settings.

Battery and charging specs

The phone(1) has, 4500 mAh battery. This would be easily lasting one day, Carl Pei said in the launch stream.

The phone supports 33W fast charging, which translates to full phone charging in just 1 Hour. We know this is not much compared to the latest fast charging trends. Where companies are showcasing their phones charging in just 10s of minutes, but it is still good.

The price of the Nothing Phone(1) is

Conclusion

Nothing Phone (1) seems a decent phone, but we will be straightforward here. The overhype of this phone might make this phone a case of burdened under its own hype case.

Nothing as a company having really trying to seem as cool and different mobile phone company. At high level it seems likely as well. But going deeper, it looks like just another One Plus story. We really want to be wrong on this last statement.
