Google Pixel 7a officially launched with Tensor G2 chip

Google has launched Google Pixel 7a, expanding its 7 series lineup with the introduction of a series, unveiled on Wednesday during the Google I/O 2023 event.

Most details about the Pixel 7a were already leaked. But after this official launch, we have to say Google Pixel 7a comes with excellent specifications at great pricing.

Screen and Design

It features a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 20:9 aspect ratio, coupled with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Google has added an in-display fingerprint scanner and Face unlock feature, enhancing the device’s security and accessibility.

Pixel 7a also comes with an IP67 certification, providing resistance to dust and water.


The Pixel 7a is powered by Google’s in-house Tensor G2 chip, the same processor that fuels its flagship siblings, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Accompanying the Tensor G2 is the Titan M2 security chip, enhancing the phone’s security credentials.


In the optics department, the Pixel 7a boasts a 64MP main lens and a 13MP ultra-wide sensor, with both rear and front lenses capable of recording 4k videos. The rear camera supports OIS and EIS, while a 13MP front camera caters to selfie enthusiasts.

Storage and RAM

With 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 internal storage, the Pixel 7a promises a smooth and fluid user experience, an upgrade from the 6GB RAM of its predecessor, the Pixel 6a.


Google’s latest offering comes with Android 13 out of the box and is set to receive the Android 14 beta update, ensuring users stay ahead with the latest features and security updates for the next five years.


The Pixel 7a houses a 4,385mAh battery, offering more extended usage between charges, and supports 20W wired and 18W wireless charging — the first for any ‘a’ series Pixel phone.

Exclusive Google Features

The Pixel 7a supports several Google-exclusive features, including Translate, Recorder Speaker Labels, Assistant Voice Typing, and Voice Messaging Transcription on the Messages app. Users can also take advantage of the Magic Eraser and Photo Unblur options in Google Photos.

Pixel 7a includes all of the AI-powered Pixel Call Assist features that make Pixel the best phone for phone calls:

  • Direct My Call lets you see menu options and get to the right department quicker when calling businesses.
  • Call Screen tells you who’s calling and why, so you know before picking up.
  • Hold for Me waits on the line so you don’t have to and notifies you once the representative is available.
  • Clear Calling enhances the caller’s voice and reduces background noise.
  • Wait Times gives you an estimated time you’ll be on hold for when calling a business.

Google Pixel 7a Pricing and Availability

In US Pixel 7a is available to order starting at $499

In India Pixel 7a is priced at ₹43,999, the Google Pixel 7a is available in a single 8GB/128GB variant. However, the device is now available at a launch price of ₹39,999.

The phone is available on Flipkart starting May 11 in Charcoal, Snow, and Sea colours.

The Google Pixel 7a, with its premium features and competitive pricing, is set to make a great debut in mid-budget smartphone landscape.
