The major problem is the low storage which is only 256 GB of nvMe SSD. Although it is better to have SSD over HDD, 256 GB is low to have in this segment. HP provides you with the option to upgrade your storage to 512GB of SSD.
On the other hand, the processor is quite powerful which is AMD Ryzen 5 4500U, a 6-core processor. This chip will handle multi-tasking quite easily.
This one runs on AMD’s integrated Radeon Vega 8 graphics which will take care of your graphical requirements for daily usage. (Don’t try to run Cyberpunk though :p)
This laptop will easily help you do content creation tasks like 1080p video editing, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. But, if you are someone who does such jobs, 256 GB of SSD storage might be very little for you.
This laptop has 8GB (2666 MHz) RAM which is enough for daily tasks and if you are looking to squeeze some more multitasking capability you can upgrade to 16GB of RAM.
There is nothing exciting about the display. It is a standard FHD (1080p) 15.6-inch display with 45% NTSC (colour gamut – determines how accurate colours are) and anti-glare.
Pros and Cons
- Powerful processor
- RAM Upgradeable to 16GB RAM
- Good Battery Backup
- Low storage
- No backlit keyboard
If you are someone who can manage with low storage (by using external storage), this is a great laptop with a powerful chip and good battery backup. If you upgrade to 16GB of RAM, you can squeeze every bit from this laptop for your work.
HP 14 Ryzen 5 3500U – 14s-dk0501AU
| ₹47990 | Balanced Specs
Kind of a variant of the above-listed HP laptop, this is a much more balanced laptop. It features an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U processor which is a 4-core processor with a base clock speed of 2.1GHz. This processor is roughly 22% faster than the Intel Core i3-1115G4 processor (used in Lenovo, check no. 5 listing).
Key Specs
Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 3500U 4 core, 8 threads 2.1 GHz (base clock) 3.7 GHz (boost clock)

This doesn’t have the storage problem like the earlier listed HP laptop and comes with 256GB SSD + 1 TB HDD. You also have the option of upgrading to 1TB NVme SSD.
This is perfect for you if you have large storage needs along with higher storage speed.
It comes with 8 GB RAM (2400 MHz) upgradable to 16 GB. In comparison to the above-listed HP laptop which has 2666 MHz RAM, this one has a reduced RAM speed of 2400 MHz. But, this speed difference is negligible in terms of everyday use or content creation work.
It doesn’t have a backlit keyboard and has a standard 1920×1080 display with 45% NTSC and 220 nits of peak brightness. It will give you a battery backup of around 5 to 5.5 hours depending on usage.
Pros and Cons
- SSD + HDD and good upgradability
- Good value processor
- Balanced Specs
- Doesn’t feature a backlit keyboard
- Lower peak brightness
- Average battery performance
- Slower RAM speed than competitors (doesn’t matter for the average user)
If you want to have more balanced specs and do care about having a good amount of internal storage, you can opt for this variant. If you are someone who wants a much faster processor and is able to compromise on the storage aspect, choose the earlier variant.

This processor is around 60% faster than the Ryzen 5 3500U (used in the 2nd listing, HP) processor which is super impressive. With 8GB RAM (2993 MHz) and 512GB SSD storage, it provides a solid performance.
A little disappointment is the upgradability of the RAM which is only limited to 12GB. Storage can be upgraded to 1TB SSD which is good enough for a laptop in this segment.
For display, this variant of Ideapad rocks a 14-inch, IPS display with a peak brightness of 300 nits. Despite being only 45% NTSC, the colours on the screen look rich. Overall, the display of this laptop is good enough for content creation and everyday tasks.
The major advantage of this laptop is its processor and its premium design. It also has a convenient backlit keyboard and is really light weighing just 1.4 kg. (lightest in the segment)
If you are someone who requires a laptop that can be used for content creation and daily business purposes, this laptop is probably the best in this class.
Pros and Cons
- Lightweight and ultra-portable
- Good display
- Superfast, value processor
- Backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader
- Only upgradeable up to 12GB RAM (although, 12GB is enough in most cases)
Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 2021 Intel Core i3 11th Gen – 82H700J8IN
| ₹43880 | Budget Value
If your budget is low, this laptop is a great fit for you. Capable of handling daily tasks, business use and mid-level content creation. this is an overall well-built laptop with a dual-core processor, Intel Core i3-1115G4 @3.0 GHz.
Key Specs

But you need to keep in mind that although it is a great processor in this price range, it will limit you in terms of hardcore multitasking. To put into perspective, let’s just you are running a 1080p video running on Youtube, editing a video and opened a bunch of tabs on Google Chrome, you will experience some lagging.
Although capable of multitasking, it comes with a RAM of 8 GB which isn’t surprising in this price range which can limit the processor’s multitasking ability.
Another downside is low storage. With 512 GB of nvMe SSD, you might run out of storage soon. (Much better than huge storage of HDD). There is another variant with 256 GB (don’t buy that, since the price is the same).
It comes with a 14-inch display which makes it surprisingly super light and also has a backlit keyboard which is a welcome quality-of-life feature. The display has 45% NTSC and the peak brightness stands at 300 nits (better than 250 nits which is quite common in this range)
It has a 45Wh battery which will give you 5-6 hours of battery backup depending on your usage. But, if you can upgrade your storage and RAM, it is a solid laptop that will help you complete any task you throw at it.
Pros and Cons
- NVMe SSD storage instead of HDD
- Backlit keyboard
- Lightweight
- Good display and screen
- RAM Upgradeable to 12 GB only
- 2 core processor
This is a great laptop f your budget is very limited and low. The laptop provides the value performance for the price. Great for daily tasks, business use and mid-level content creation.

Key Specs
Processor | Intel Core i5-11300H 4 core, 8 threads 3.1 GHz (base clock) 4.4 GHz (boost clock)
Screen and Display | 14 inch, 2560×1600 QHD+ IPS display, anti-glare 100% sRGB 16:10 aspect ratio
Dimensions and Weight | 31.6 x 22 x 1.7 cm 1.4 kg

Ports | 2 x USB 3.2 Gen1 1 x USB Type C 1 x HDMI 1.4 Thunderbolt 4 Headphone Jack
Other features | Fingerprint Reader 2 X 2W Stereo Speakers |
Paired with the newer Intel Iris Xe integrated graphic card, it is more than capable of tackling your graphical needs for video editing or Photoshop.
The processor and GPU is not the main highlight here. This laptop provides an exceptional display which is great for this price range.
It features a 14-inch QHD+ (2560×1600) display with 100% sRGB (Colors are accurate). It has an IPS panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio which lets you see more of the content on-screen at once.
The advantage of such a display is that, if you are into content creation, you might require 100% colour accuracy and this laptop provides that.
With an 8GB RAM (3200 MHz), it can be upgraded to 16GB and you get 512 GB NVme storage which can be upgradable up to 1TB NVme SSD.
Along with an exceptional display, this laptop rocks a fingerprint reader, backlit keyboard and is light and ultra-portable.
Pros and Cons
- Ultra-Portable
- Exceptional display
- Storage and RAM upgradability
- Build quality could be better
- Problems in customer support and service
If you are someone who is very sensitive about colour accuracy and wants to have a really good display, this is the perfect laptop for you. If you don’t care about these things, you can go with the Lenovo (with Ryzen 5 5500 U processor) because apart from a little more powerful integrated graphics card and display, it is pretty much the same.
HP Pavilion Gaming – 15-ec0101AX
| ₹ 54990 | Budget Gaming Laptop
This is the only gaming laptop below Rs. 55000 although it’s an entry-level gaming machine. The design language of this laptop clearly screams “gamer vibes”.
This laptop features a 4-core Ryzen 5 3550H processor paired with a GTX 1650. The pairing is really well balanced with absolutely no bottleneck. (Bottleneck is when a CPU is much slower than GPU or a GPU is much slower than the CPU).
Key Specs
Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 3550H 4 core, 8 threads 2.1 GHz (base clock) 3.7 GHz (boost clock)
Screen and Display | 15.6 inch, 1920×1080 FHD IPS display, anti-glare 45% NTSC
Dimensions and Weight | 36 x 25.7 x 2.4 cm 1.98 kg
Graphics Card | Nvidia GTX 1650
RAM | 8 GB DDR4 SDRAM | Upgradable to 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) |
Storage | 1 TB HDD 5400 RPM No SSD | Separate slot for SSD Upgradable to 1 TBB |
Battery | 52.5 Wh Up to 6 hours of battery backup
Keyboard | Full-Size Keyboard Purple Backlit keyboard
Ports | 1 x USB Type C 2 X USB Type A 1 X HDMI Media Card reader Headphone/Mic Jack
Other features | Bluetooth v5.1 Inbuilt speakers |
This processor is as fast as the Ryzen 5 3500U but at this price point with a good discrete graphic card, we really can’t complain.
This laptop comes with 8GB RAM which you can upgrade to 16GB. Upgrading the RAM will give you around 10-15% performance boost (8 GB + 8 GB, not one 16GB). Not recommended if you are on a very tight budget, you can do it later too.
The only downside is the storage. It comes with 1TB HDD storage which is good, but having your primary storage as SSD make the experience much smoother. It is important to note that it has an empty SSD slot which means you can have an SSD in this laptop.
It is recommended to get at least 256 GB (it will cost you around Rs. 2500 to Rs. 3000) and reinstall the Windows in that drive. This will make the laptop much faster. You can visit the local official service centre to get the reinstalling done or you can do it yourself. (it’s quite easy)
If it’s a gaming laptop, you have to take care of thermals too. The thermals on this machine are fine, it has adequate vents and decent cooling and will not throttle under load. The design of the laptop is very “gaming-esque” with a purple backlit keyboard.
Pros and Cons
- Value for money
- Backlit keyboard
- Good thermals
- Only HDD storage (can add SSD)
For the price range, this is a good gaming laptop. If you are on a tight budget and you are looking specifically for a gaming laptop, you can absolutely get this one.
