The first quarter of 2023 is over and had some great hits of the year so far. There were some surprise hits like HiFi Rush, Have a Good Death and Deceive Inc. There were also some fails like Forspoken and Wanted: Dead.
Talking about the year so far, there were constant complaints about performance optimisation on the PC although games like Atomic Heart proved that it is possible to optimise the game if efforts are put into it. We will see if this annoying trend persists.
Starting the second quarter, we have some big games coming out in April 2023 and here they are.
Dead Island 2
Starting with a classic zombie action game, we have the successor to the hit Dead Island released back in 2011. Not counting the expansions and spinoffs, Dead Island 2 is coming out after more than a decade.
Just like the first one, Dead Island 2 will be a first-person and will feature melee combat. The game will be set in Los Angeles which is under quarantine. You and a few others are resistant to the pathogen fighting against the horde of zombies in the city.
The game looks absolutely beautiful and will take you to some iconic locations in Log Angeles. The combat will be mostly melee focused with plenty of weapons. It will carry some RPG elements like the new skill system and the ability to customise the ability of six slayers among the six available.
You can play alone or co-op with up to 3 players. If you are looking for some zombie-killing experience, Dead Island 2 is here for that.
Dead Island 2 is releasing on 21 April for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X.
Minecraft Legends
Minecraft Legends adds to the huge world of Minecraft. Mojang Studios and Blackbird Interactive have swapped out the classic Minecraft gameplay for an action strategy video game. The piglins, who want nothing more than to destroy the Overworld, enter the world of Minecraft Legends.
The player is tasked with uniting the clans of the Overworld to fight back against the piglins in order to protect their world. Despite strategy games that might be tough to sell, Minecraft Legends has both co-op and PvP modes, making it easier for players to include their friends.
Minecraft Legends is releasing on 18 April for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X and Switch.
The Last Case of Benedict Fox
The Last Case of Benedict Fox, which was first presented at last year’s Microsoft & Bethesda Game Showcase, was a noteworthy new game at their conference. The player takes on the role of Benedict Fox, a detective investigating a missing child in a haunting home.
The game immerses the player in a world of pulp noir and Lovecraftian horror as Benedict Fox journeys between the human and magical worlds with the assistance of the demon companion bonded to his spirit.
The Last Case of Benedict Fox is a beautiful Metroidvania with a grim and visually beautiful atmosphere. You will use your weapons, demon powers, and surroundings in creative combinations to overcome demons, monsters, and cultists.
The Last Case of Benedict Fox is releasing on 27 April for PC and Xbox Series S|X.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
The first game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was almost perfect. I loved the first game and never thought how fun Star Wars would be when combined with the souls format. The first game had some issues like a lack of fast travel and limited force abilities.
The developers have addressed some of these issues and the game looks amazing from what we have seen so fart.
The game is set 5 years after the end of the last game. The journey of Cal Kestis will continue as he fights and escape the enemies of the Jedi. He is more powerful now with expanded force abilities and better fighting abilities.
We will see the return of characters from the first one like Cere, Merrin and Greeze along with a new face. Of course, there will be BD1 too.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is releasing on April 28 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S|X.

Meet Your Maker
The developer Behaviour Interactive are the one who made Dead By Daylight and now they are back with a base-building, action strategy game.
Meet your Maker is a post-apocalyptic first-person building-and-raiding game where every level is designed by players. Play solo or with a friend as you mastermind devious maze-like Outposts full of traps and guards, then gear up for methodical fast-paced combat raiding other players’ creations.
In the game, you are the Custodian of the Chimera, a living experiment created as a last resort to save life on Earth. You have to enter a tactical battle for the planet’s most coveted resource and the key to your Chimera’s evolution: pure Genetic Material. To protect your resources, you have to construct and fortify brutal Outposts.
Meet Your Maker is releasing on 4 April for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X
The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story
For a time now, the League of Legends universe has been expanding in both the video game and animation realms. Digital Sun’s latest release is The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Tale, a 2D pixel action RPG.
The Mageseeker puts players in the shoes of Sylas, a mage who has recently escaped from the Mageseekers’ clutches. Sylas uses his spell control and the chains he’s still locked in to free Demacia’s mages, building an army and becoming more powerful. The Mageseeker invites League fans to try something new while helping to expand the game’s universe.
The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story is releasing on April 18 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X and Switch.
Road 96: Mile 0
The indie developer, DigixArt is bringing the prequel to the narrative adventure game Road 96. In Road 96: Mile 0, players will control two characters: Zoe, who first appeared in the original game, and Kaito, the main protagonist of DigixArt’s Lost in Harmony.
The two protagonists come from radically different backgrounds, yet their fortuitous meeting affects both of their worlds. Unlike the original Road 96, it appears that the procedural part of the story has been dropped in this game.
Instead, the game has introduced musical moments that will provide transforming, hallucinogenic stages to the game. If you loved the first Road 96, you should definitely pick up this game.
Road 96: Mile 0 is releasing on April 4 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X and Switch.
