MediaTek has unveiled the Dimensity 9300+, an enhanced version of its flagship Dimensity 9300 mobile processor. This new chip boasts several improvements over its predecessor, including a more powerful CPU, enhanced AI processing, and an upgraded graphics unit.
Mediatek Dimensity 9300+ CPU cores
Built on TSMC’s third-generation 4nm process, the Dimensity 9300+ prioritizes performance over efficiency.
It features an all-big core CPU configuration, ditching the efficiency cores found in the Dimensity 9300. The prime Cortex-X4 core clocks in at a slightly higher speed of 3.4GHz compared to 3.25GHz on the Dimensity 9300.
The remaining seven Cortex-A720 cores also operate at varying frequencies. This core layout and the 18MB L3 + SLC cache contribute to the processor’s overall performance boost.
MediaTek highlights its collaboration with TSMC in leveraging the advanced 4nm process to achieve this performance enhancement while maintaining power efficiency comparable to the Dimensity 9300.

Dimensity 9300+ goes hard on AI
One of the key improvements in the Dimensity 9300+ is its AI processing capabilities. MediaTek’s new NeuroPilot Speculative Decode Acceleration technology integrated into the latest generative AI engine delivers a significant boost.
The upgraded APU 790 AI engine allows the chipset to support Large Language Models (LLMs) with varying parameter sizes, ranging from 1 billion to a massive 33 billion.
When NeuroPilot Speculative Decode Acceleration is enabled, the Dimensity 9300+ demonstrates exceptional performance, running LLMs with 7 billion parameters at a rate of 22 tokens per second, which is reportedly twice as fast as existing solutions.
Dimensity 9300+ GPU
The graphics department also sees an upgrade with the inclusion of a 12-core ARM Immortalis-G720 GPU. This GPU boasts a second-generation hardware-accelerated ray tracing engine, capable of delivering enhanced visuals while maintaining a smooth 60 frames per second (FPS) gameplay experience.
MediaTek further emphasizes the chipset’s ability to handle online games at a steady 90 FPS in HDR mode, all while achieving a 20% improvement in efficiency compared to its predecessor.
Storage and Memory
On the storage and memory front, the Dimensity 9300+ supports the latest UFS 4.0 storage standard and can handle LPDDR5T memory with a maximum bandwidth of 9,600Mbps.

Network
Network connectivity also benefits from efficiency improvements. MediaTek’s HyperEngine technology incorporates a new Network Observation System (NOS) that optimizes both Wi-Fi and cellular connections.
This system is claimed to deliver up to 10% power savings and a significant 25% reduction in cellular data usage. While the integrated 5G modem boasts a maximum throughput of 7Gbps, it falls short of Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon X70 modem in terms of raw speed.
Image and Video Processing on Dimensity 9300+
The Dimensity 9300+ also brings an upgrade to the image signal processor (ISP). The Imagiq 990 ISP now supports 18-bit RAW processing, allowing for capturing high-quality images with greater detail and dynamic range.
Additionally, the ISP integrates an AI Semantic Analysis Video Engine, enabling advanced AI videography features. This engine leverages 16-scene segmentation and real-time video capture techniques to reduce noise, enhance brightness, and improve color reproduction in videos.

Which phones will use Dimenisty 9300+?
With the official announcement of the Dimensity 9300+, smartphone manufacturers are eager to leverage this powerful chip in their upcoming flagships. Vivo has already confirmed that its X100s and X100s Pro models will be powered by the Dimensity 9300+.
The Dimensity 9300+ appears to be a compelling option for smartphone users seeking top-tier performance, enhanced AI capabilities, and improved imaging experiences. However, it will be interesting to see what Dimensity 9400 will bring to the table, given that it is going to launch soon in a few months.
