Lenovo announces Dual screen laptop, new Legion gaming laptops at CES 2023

Lenovo is probably the company with the most number of products announced/showcased at CES 2023. From Legion laptops to its Motorola ThinkPhone, Lenovo announced a lot of stuff.

Here’s a look at the laptops that Lenovo announced at CES 2023.

Lenovo Legion laptops

Legion is the flagship gaming laptop from Lenovo and has continually made amazing laptops. For 2023, Lenovo is stepping up its game with its 8th-generation Legion laptops.

Lenovo Legion lineup for 2023

Legion laptops are divided into 4 series

  • Legion Pro 5
  • Legion Pro 5i
  • Legion Pro 7
  • Legion Pro 7i

Lenovo Legion Pro 7i will be powered by Intel 13th gen processors up to i9-13900HX and Nvidia RTX 40 series GPU up to RTX 4090 (175W TDP). On the other hand, the Legion Pro 7 will be powered by an AMD processor and the rest remains the same.

Lenovo Legion laptops will use a dedicated AI chip which will monitor CPU and GPU load to dynamically adjust heat management and squeeze out even more performance from the internals.

Legion Pro 7i will have Intel processors

For the display, all the models will use the same 16-inch, 16:10 ratio 2560×1600 (WQXGA) display that supports up to a 240Hz variable refresh rate. It will have a battery of 99.99 WHr capacity and a total TDP of 235W.

The Intel (7i) models will have RTX 4070 to RTX 4090 laptop GPU whereas the AMD (7) models will only have RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 laptop GPU.

Lenovo Legion Pro 5 keyboard will feature 4-zone RGB

For Lenovo Legion Pro 5i and Pro 5, graphics will be powered by Nvidia RTX 40 series GPU up to RTX 4070 only. Some models will also get RTX 3050 laptop GPU. Most of the things will remain the same as in Pro 7/7i models but will get a reduced battery capacity of 80Whr.

The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i will start at $1999.99 (approx. ₹1,94,000) and is expected to be available starting March 2023. The Legion Pro 7 will start at €2699 inc. VAT (approx. ₹2,36,500) and is expected to be available starting April 2023

Lenovo launches a dual-screen OLED laptop

Lenovo has announced the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i, which is a dual-screen laptop. While the dual-screen concept isn’t new, Lenovo has done surprisingly well to seamlessly integrate the software and hardware which makes it practical and versatile.

It will have a 13.3-inches OLED display with 2.8K resolution, 400 nits of brightness and a 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut. It will feature a 60 Hz refresh rate and a display ratio of 16:10.

Powered by Intel’s 13th gen processor and Intel Iris integrated graphics, it’s meant for productivity and easy multitasking on a small form-factor device. It will have 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB/1 TB of SSD storage. (PCIe gen 4)

Yoga Book can be used in multiple modes, with or without a keyboard making it extremely versatile.

Both sections of the display will have touch and will work with Lenovo’s included active pen. You can switch the second display to become a keyboard and a trackpad or you can snap a magnetic keyboard on the secondary display to use an actual keyboard.

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i will start at $2,099.99 (approx. ₹2,03,799) and is expected to be available starting June 2023.

New Yoga Slim 6i and Refreshed Yoga 9i, Yoga Slim 7i Carbon and Yoga 6 Laptops

Lenovo Yoga 9i with Intel processor and 14-inch display

Lenovo also unveiled updates for its Yoga 9i (14″) and Yoga Slim 7i Carbon (13″), both of which use processors from Intel’s 13th generation and offer even more outstanding performance to boost adaptability and productivity. 

Lenovo Yoga 6 with AMD Ryzen processor and 13-inch display

Additionally, the most recent Yoga 6 (13″) laptop has been updated with the newest AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPUs and a better battery.

Lenovo Thinkpad and ThinkBook laptops at CES 2023

The updated ThinkBook Plus Twist has a dual-screen e-ink display that is better than before, as well as a primary 2.8K OLED display with a faster refresh rate and more brightness capacity.

Lenovo ThinkPad Plus Twist

The display will feature a new narrow-bezel 13.3-inch 2.8K OLED display with touch glass and twist hinge and the second display with a front-lit colourful 12-inch e-Ink display on top cover with improved 12Hz refresh rate and touch glass.

Because of its innovative twist hinge, the ThinkBook Plus Twist can be used in a variety of configurations, including tablet and clamshell formats, both of which may emphasise either the OLED display or the vibrant e-Ink display.

It will be powered by Intel 13th gen processor and Intel Iris Xe integrates graphics. It will feature up to 16GB LPDDR5X memory and up to 1TB of NVMe SSD.

Lenovo ThinkBook 16p unveiled at CES 2023

The ThinkBook is now upgraded with optional Lenovo accessories like MagicBay 4K Webcam and Magic Bay Light for high-quality video conferencing. The ThinkBook 16p will be powered by Intel 13th gen H series processors and will also feature RTX 4060 laptop GPU for graphically intensive tasks.

The display will come in two options: One with a 16-inch 3.2K IPS panel, 400nits brightness and 120Hz, second one with a 16-inch 2.5K IPS panel, 400nits brightness and 60Hz. Both will feature Dolby Vision.

It will have dual SSD up to 2x 1TB PCIe Gen 4 and up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM. For battery capacity, it will feature 80WHr of capacity.

ThinkBook Plus Twist will start at $1649 (approx. ₹ 1,59,500) and is expected to be available starting June 2023. ThinkBook 16p Gen 4 will start at $1349 (approx. ₹ 1,30,000) and is expected to be available starting May 2023.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a premium business laptop from Lenovo and it has been redesigned for 2023 (11th gen). It will now feature an improved design and will be powered by Intel 13th gen i7 processors.

It will now have the option of a 2.5K OLED display (14-inch) with Dolby Vision and EyeSafe.

Lenovo Ideapad Pro and Ideapad Slim for 2023

Lenovo Ideapad Pro and Ideapad Slim are mainstream choices for many average users who want a professional laptop for mixed usage. 

Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 with AMD Ryzen processor

The Lenovo Ideapad Pro line will be powered by the new Intel 13th gen processor and AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors. The IdeaPad Pro 5i and IdeaPad Pro 5 will feature both 14-inch and 16-inch models.

The IdeaPad Pro 5i will be powered by Intel 13th gen processors up to i7 H series and up to RTX 4050 laptop GPU (for 16-inch) and RTX 3050 laptop GPU (for 14-inch). The display will feature a 2.5K resolution, 16:10 ratio and 120Hz for 16-inch models and the 14-inch models will have a 2.8K resolution display.

The IdeaPad Pro 5 will be the same but the processor will be powered by AMD Ryzen 7000HS processors.

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i

The IdeaPad Slim on the other hand will only have a 14-inch model; IdeaPad Slim 5 and Slim 5i. The IdeaPad Slim 5i will be powered by Intel processors up to 13th i7 H series processors and the IdeaPad Slim 5 will be powered by AMD Ryzen 7000 U series processors.

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Carbon (13-inch)

The IdeaPad Slim line will also include IdeaPad Slim 7i in 14-inch and 13-inch configurations. Both of them will be powered by Intel processors. The 13th gen model will, be called ThinkPad Slim 7i Carbon and will be on the Intel Evo platform. It will feature a QHD, 13-inch display.

All the IdeaPad Slim models will have a 2.5K (WUXGA) OLED display with 100% DCI-P3.

Ideapad Pro and Slim models will arrive in the Spring of 2023.

Lenovo Legion Gaming Tower PC

Similar to the Legion Pro laptops, there are PC variants by the same name. The Legion Tower PCs will include the Legion Tower 7i, Tower 5i and Tower 5.

The Legion Tower 7i and Tower 5i will have Intel processors, while the Tower 5 will have AMd Ryzen processors.

Lenovo Legion Tower 7i with Intel 13th gen processor and RTX 40 series GPU

The Legion Tower 7i will feature Intel processors up to i9-13900K and up to RTX 4090. It will feature up to 64GB DDR5 RAM (5600MHz) and up to 6TB of SSD. There will be multiple configurations with different storage, memory and GPU/CPU.

The Legion Towe 7i will use a Z790 chipset motherboard and up to 1200W PSU.

The Legion Tower 5i will use Intel processors up to i9-13900F and RTX 4097 or Radeon RX 7500. It will feature up to 32GB of DDR5 memory and up to 3TB of SSD storage. It will use a B660 chipset motherboard and up to 850W PSU.

Lenovo Legion Tower 5 with AMD Ryzen processor and RTX 40 series GPU

The Legion Tower 5 will use an AMD processor up to Ryzen 9 7900 and RTX 4070 or Radeon RX 7800X. It will feature up to 32GB of DDR5 memory and up to 3TB of SSD storage. It will use a B650 chipset motherboard and up to 850W PSU.
