Intel Innovation 2024 to Feature Arrow Lake and Granite Rapids Announcements in San Jose

Intel is set to host its annual Innovation event on September 24-25, 2024, in San Jose, California. This event will focus on major advancements in Intel’s CPU lineup, including the highly anticipated Arrow Lake and Granite Rapids processors.

Key Announcements Expected

While we do not know exactly what will be announced, recent reports, and leaks point us to certain key announcements that might very well happen.

Arrow Lake

Intel’s Arrow Lake CPUs, part of the 15th Gen Core series, will be showcased as successors to the Meteor Lake chips. These processors will utilize Intel’s advanced 20A process node, featuring both RibbonFET and PowerVia technologies, promising significant performance and efficiency gains. The Arrow Lake series is expected to cover both desktop and mobile platforms.

Lunar Lake

Intel is also expected to discuss Lunar Lake, its next-generation client product aimed at thin and light devices, which integrates AI capabilities to enhance performance and user experience. Although primarily set for a 2025 release, updates on its progress and capabilities will likely be shared.

Granite Rapids

On the server side, Intel will unveil its Granite Rapids-AP Xeon CPUs. Built on the Intel 3nm process node, these processors are designed to enhance data centre performance with up to 96 PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes and 64 CXL 2.0 lanes, offering substantial improvements in throughput and efficiency​.

Sierra Forest

Another highlight can be the introduction of the Sierra Forest Xeon processors, which focus on energy efficiency with a high core count, potentially up to 288 cores. These chips are tailored for cloud-centric and 5G applications, aiming to deliver top performance per watt and support for scalar workloads.

Intel’s Innovation event will precede the company’s keynote at Computex 2024, where further details about their roadmap and upcoming technologies are anticipated. The Innovation series serves as a platform for Intel to demonstrate its leadership in semiconductor technology, reaffirming its commitment to a rapid advancement cycle with multiple node transitions planned in the next few years​.
