Google India’s CEO Sanjay Gupta stated that more Indian customers can now utilize their native language to write or speak to the Alphabet Inc. unit’s services, increasing the number of people who can do so.
To expand internet access beyond the nation’s metropolitan English-speaking minority, the corporation has been working on an artificial intelligence model that can handle more than 100 Indian languages in both speech and text.

“To me, that’s the biggest investment we’re making as Google,” Gupta told a news conference. “To enable this content revolution is to enable every Indian to use the internet as deeply as English users did five years back.”
While Apple Inc. is pushing more expensive cellphones, the Android operating system from the Mountain View, California-based business now rules the Indian market. With the help of partnerships with companies like Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio, Google has worked to establish its position as a major player in the mass-market phone sector.
Sanjay Gupta, CEO of Google India, said, “We today have one of the lowest data costs in the country, but the next 300 million users will require a much cheaper smartphone.”
When Google acquired a strategic investment in Reliance Jio in 2020, the goal was to determine how to reach the following 300 million users. According to a study by Google, Temasek Holdings Pte, and Bain & Co., the internet economy of the South Asian country is expected to grow more than five times, to roughly $1 trillion, by 2030. E-commerce, online travel reservations, food delivery, and ride-hailing are anticipated to be the main drivers of this increase.
