AMD Launches Ryzen 5 7600X3D With 96MB Cache and Exclusive to US Through Micro Center

AMD has officially launched the Ryzen 5 7600X3D, a new six-core processor featuring the game-enhancing 3D V-Cache technology. Priced at $299.99, this chip is the most affordable entry in AMD’s Zen 4-based lineup with 3D V-Cache and is exclusively available at Micro Center.

The Ryzen 5 7600X3D is aimed at mainstream gamers looking for a balance between cost and performance, particularly those prioritizing gaming performance over other workloads.

The Ryzen 5 7600X3D features a larger 96MB L3 cache, a significant increase over the 32MB found in the standard Ryzen 5 7600X. This additional cache is designed to boost gaming performance by reducing latency, which can be particularly beneficial in titles that are cache-sensitive.

The CPU operates at a base clock of 4.1 GHz, with the ability to boost up to 4.7 GHz. While it has a locked multiplier, preventing easy overclocking of the cores, it does allow for memory overclocking, which could offer some performance gains.

This processor is drop-in compatible with AMD’s AM5 platform, supporting a range of motherboards including those based on A620, B650, and X670 chipsets. It also supports PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 memory, with up to 128GB of DDR5-5200 memory supported.

The Micro Center exclusivity means that availability will be limited to their 28 retail locations in the U.S. This exclusivity, combined with the limited silicon supply set aside for this model, is expected to make the Ryzen 5 7600X3D a somewhat rare find, similar to last year’s Ryzen 5 5600X3D.

Micro Center is also offering a value-packed bundle that includes the Ryzen 5 7600X3D, an Asus TUF Gaming B650-Plus Wi-Fi motherboard, and 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory for $449.99, a significant discount compared to purchasing these components separately.

While the Ryzen 5 7600X3D is priced higher than the standard 7600X, which is currently discounted at some retailers, it’s additional cache and potential gaming performance improvements could justify the premium for certain users.

However, as with most new hardware, it may be wise to wait for detailed reviews to determine whether the extra cost is worth it for your specific needs.
