Motorola Edge 40 Pro with 165Hz refresh rate and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 launched

Successor to the Motoroal Edge 30 Pro, the next in the series launched in Europe on April 4. The new Edge 40 Pro has only been launched in Europe and will subsequently be launched in other regions.

It will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and will feature a high refresh rate 165HZ display with pOLED. Here are all the specifications and prices of the Motorola Edge 40 Pro.

It is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with 12GB of LPDDR4 Memory, and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

It has a 6.67-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixel) pOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, a refresh rate of 165Hz, a pixel density of 394ppi, and DCI-P3 colour space. The display will also support Dolby Vision and HDR10+ with a touch sampling rate of 360Hz. A 3D curved Corning Gorilla Glass Victus with an anti-fingerprint coating protects both the display and the back panel.

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro boasts a triple rear camera array that includes

  • 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens, omnidirectional phase-detection autofocus (PDAF), and optical image stabilisation (OIS),
  • A 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and,
  • 12-megapixel portrait sensor

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro has a front-facing 60-megapixel camera sensor with an f/2.2 lens for selfies and video chats.

The back camera arrangement can record 8K video at 30 frames per second. It also supports slow-motion full-HD video recording at frame rates of up to 120fps.
Motorola has integrated a variety of photographic settings, including Night Vision, Timelapse, Super Slow Motion, and Portrait.

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro comes has 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS/ A-GPS, LTEPP, SUPL, GLONASS, Galileo, NFC, and a USB Type-C port for connectivity.

An accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, SAR sensor, and proximity sensor are among the sensors on board. There is a fingerprint sensor on the side as well as a face unlock feature. It includes ThinkShield for superior mobile security, and Moto Secure consolidates all security and privacy settings into one app.

Dolby Atmos-tuned twin stereo speakers are included with the Motorola Edge 40 Pro. It also includes four microphones and is water-resistant to IP68 standards.

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro has a 4,600mAh battery and supports 125W TurboPower rapid wired charging as well as 15W wireless charging (sold separately). It also allows wireless power sharing up to 5W.

The charger is capable of charging the battery completely in about 23 minutes. Furthermore, the battery is said to provide up to 30 hours of standby time on a single charge. It also has dimensions of 161.16 x 74 x 8.59mm and weighs 199 grammes.

Price and Availability

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro is priced at EUR 899.99 (about ₹80,500) for the single 12GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration. The phone will be available in Europe in the following week in Interstellar Black and Lunar Blue colour variants. It is also revealed that it would be available in select regions across South America in the coming weeks.

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro will not be available in India until further notice. For comparison, the Motorola Edge 30 Pro was released in India in February of last year for Rs. 49,999 for the only 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model.
