Everything Announced at the June Nintendo Direct

The eagerly awaited summer Nintendo Direct has finally graced fans with many exciting game announcements and updates. While news about the anticipated Switch 2 was absent, Nintendo announced numerous updates for existing games and introduced a lot of new titles.

Here is everything that was announced at the Nintendo Direct June 2024.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership

Mario & Luigi: Brothership is scheduled for a November 7, 2024 release. This new game features a vibrant art style and follows the iconic brothers as they explore the island-ship hybrid, Shipshape Island, in the land of Concordia. The adventure will include visits to diverse locales like rainforests and cities, along with encounters with familiar characters such as Peach and Bowser.

Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition

Launching on July 18, Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition will feature over 150 speedrunning challenges across 13 NES games.

Fairy Tail 2

Based on Hiro Mashima’s acclaimed Fairy Tail manga, Fairy Tail 2 brings the series’ final arc to life. In this action RPG from Koei Tecmo and Gust, players join Natsu and his friends as they face formidable foes and embark on an epic adventure.

FANTASIAN Neo Dimension

Fantasian, originally from Apple Arcade, is soon making its way to Switch and other platforms. Developed under the guidance of Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and featuring music by renowned composer Nobuo Uematsu, Fantasian Neo Dimension offers English and Japanese voiceovers, a new difficulty setting, and an engaging turn-based battle system with unique gameplay mechanics.

MIO: Memories in Orbit

MIO: Memories in Orbit is a 2D action-RPG set to release in 2025 on Nintendo Switch. Players will take on the role of MIO, an android explorer stranded on a massive spaceship adrift in space, where rogue machines abound.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure

If you’re a fan of cozy island getaways, get ready for a new adventure featuring the beloved characters from the Hello Kitty franchise. Hello Kitty Island Adventure is set to launch next year, starring the iconic Sanrio mascot and her friends as they cook delicious dishes, solve ancient puzzles, and decorate cabins in their charming tropical paradise.

Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports

Get ready for some sports action with a Looney Tunes twist! Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports brings tennis, soccer, golf, and basketball to life with beloved characters from the Merry Melodies gang competing against each other. Watch out for falling anvils and other cartoon shenanigans when this game arrives later in the year.

Among Us – New Roles

Farmagia

Arriving on Nintendo Switch on November 1, Farmagia lets you command a monster army as you explore the perilous lands of Felicidad.

Dragon Quest HD-2D Remakes

The beloved Dragon Quest series receives a fresh look with HD-2D remakes. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D will be available on November 14, 2024, followed by Dragon Quest 1-2 HD-2D in 2025. Players will dive into the Erdrick Trilogy, starting with the mission to defeat the evil Archfiend Baramos.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Set

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD hits the Switch on January 16, 2025. This enhanced version includes local co-op for two players, all 80 levels from the original Wii version, plus additional stages from the 3DS version.

Funko Fusion

Funko Fusion is bringing the beloved Funko Pop collectibles to your Nintendo Switch on September 13. This game features Funko-fied characters from TV, film, comics, and games, with over 60 to collect. Players will solve puzzles, explore new worlds, and relive iconic pop culture moments in this exciting new adventure.

The New Denpa Men

The New Denpa Men, releasing on July 22, challenges players to find creatures through radio waves and decorate their islands.

Metal Slug Attack Reloaded

Now available, Metal Slug Attack Reloaded transforms the classic run-and-gun adventure into an engaging tower-defense game. Retaining its detailed 2D-pixel art, players must devise new strategies to fend off formidable enemy forces and survive in this reimagined experience.

Darkest Dungeon II

Darkest Dungeon 2 is set to launch on the Switch on July 15. This sequel to the popular RPG introduces rogue-lite elements, challenging players to embark on a harrowing road trip through nightmarish locations.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero

Embark on an adventure to rescue her friend, Ash, Marona must harness all her powers in this charming RPG. With her unique ability to “confine” phantoms, Marona can bind them to objects across the map for strategic advantages, merge them with gadgets, and unleash powerful “Confriend” attacks as a final resort.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero is scheduled to arrive on the Switch in 2025.

Disney Illusion Island – ‘Mystery in Monoth’ Update

Disney Illusion Island gets a new update titled Mystery in Monoth. Join Mickey and his friends as they embark on a thrilling detective adventure, locating clues, solving cases, and unraveling a brand-new mystery in this free add-on.

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection

The Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is slated for release later in 2024. This collection includes iconic titles such as X-Men Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and more, complete with original arcade music, development documents, and previously unseen art.

Super Mario Party Jamboree

Super Mario Party Jamboree will launch on October 17, 2024. The game takes place on a massive island resort, featuring five new game boards, two classic boards, over 110 minigames, and a Koopathlon mode supporting up to 20 players.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Announced with Zelda as Protagonist

In a surprising reveal, Nintendo announced The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom for the Switch, set to release on September 26, 2024. This installment features Princess Zelda as the main character, tasked with uncovering the mystery behind the disappearances of Link and other Hyrule inhabitants following the appearance of strange rifts.

Zelda, accompanied by a fairy named Tri, will utilize the “power of the Tri Rod” to create echoes of environmental objects, allowing her to craft bridges from old beds and create water blocks for platforming.

A special gold-colored Nintendo Switch Lite adorned with the Hylian Crest will also launch alongside the game.

LEGO Horizon Adventures

Announced at the Summer Games Fest, Lego Horizon Adventures is also coming to the Switch. We got a new trailer for the game as it is set to launch later this year.

Stray

Stray is coming to the Switch during the Holiday of 2024. Developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive, Stray is a unique adventure game where you play as a cat in a long-forgotten cybercity, trying to find the way home.

Scheduled for release next year, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is an upcoming game from the creators of the Danganronpa series. Play as Takumi Sumino and endure a 100-day ordeal of intense battles against terrifying creatures.

Romancing SaGa 2

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven marks the triumphant return of a beloved RPG series with its first full remake. Scheduled for release on October 24, this remake will include English voiceovers, original and rearranged compositions by series composer Kenji Ito, and epic strategic battles that fans have come to love.

New Additions to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Four Swords, Metroid: Zero Mission, Perfect Dark (now with online multiplayer), and Turok: Dinosaur Hunter are joining the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack today.

Basketball Coming to Nintendo Switch Sports

A free update for Nintendo Switch Sports this summer will add Basketball, including the solo Three-Point Challenge and multiplayer modes Five-Streak Battle and Three-Point Contest.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD
