The most talked-about event this week was Elon Musk and his Twitter takeover attempt. Anyways, nothing major happened in the world of tech but we will cover some of the important news of the week.
Vivo has announced its first foldable phone
The foldable phone is a new territory where phone manufacturers are trying their luck and technological prowess in. Oppo recently released its foldable phone, Find N and now Vivo has announced its foldable phone called X Fold which will be exclusive to China as of now.
The screen size will be 8.03 inches of folding screen and 6.53 inches on the outside. It will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
Just like Samsung, it uses the Ultra-Thin Glass and the hinge will be capable of propping the phone between 60 and 120 degrees. Vivo claims that the phone will be able to survive a 300000 opens, which is substantially more than Samsung’s 200000 folds.
It will rock flagship-level specifications with a 4500mAh battery, a quad-camera setup and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The rear camera setup will feature a 50MP main camera, 48MP ultrawide, 12MP telephoto and one 8MP perioscope camera lens.
Elon Musk and Twitter Saga: Twitter employs “Poison Pill” to counter Musk
A day after billionaire Elon Musk bid $43 billion for Twitter, the company announced it had adopted a two-year shareholder rights plan, often referred to as a “poison pill.”
In the new structure, if a person or group acquires more than 15% of Twitter’s outstanding common stock without the board’s permission, other investors will be allowed to purchase additional shares at a discount.
Twitter’s new move is a common way to fend off a potential hostile takeover by diluting the stake of the entity eying the takeover. Twitter noted that the rights plan would not prevent the board from accepting an acquisition offer if the board deems it in the best interests of the company and its shareholders.

TV Prices in India will see hikes in prices due to the Ukraine Russia War, China Lockdowns
The ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict is starting to put pressure on the supply chain of electronics. Many of the raw materials required to manufacture TV panels come from this region and the ongoing war is causing a shortage.
Adding to this, China is rigorously putting lockdowns in various cities which is leading to further disruption in the supply chain network.
These two major factors combined have increased the prices of raw materials and the burden has to be borne by the consumers. TV manufacturers in India reportedly will hike the prices of TV by 10%.
Jack Dorsey’s first tweet NFT drops in value to just $280
The first tweet by Twitter’s former CEO, Jack Dorsey, was made into an NFT and sold at the price of $2.9 million. It was purchased by Sina Estavi who listed it for re-sale on OpenSea for 48$ million.
Surprisingly, it only received 7 bidders of which the highest bidder purchased it for $280.
This incident has raised a very valid question about whether NFTs are a legitimate valuable asset class and stable form of investment.
