The first quarter of 2024 has been great for gaming with so many great games but April will be a relatively quiet month. There are no big releases this month but that doesn’t mean there are no games to look out for.
Coincidentally, there are some PlayStation ports, which include one of my all-time favorite, Dave the Diver. Here are the best games releasing in April 2024 that you need to look out for.
Children of the Sun
Children of the Sun is an interesting game and has a very distinct art style that suits its premise. It is a third-person, tactical shooter but you guide a single bullet.
In the dark, vengeful world, you guide a single bullet on a tactical puzzle-filled mission. You take on the sinister cult that destroyed your life, seeking out their enigmatic leader. You can use your bullet to reshape the environment, trigger traps, and eliminate the cult with calculated precision and style.
If you want to experience the game before purchasing it, you can check out the demo.
Ereban: Shadow Legacy
When unveiled at Xbox Games Showcase last year, it garnered attention because of its similarity to Aragami. Ereban: Shadow Legacy is primarily a stealth game (which is very rare now) intertwined with platforming and puzzles.
where you play as Ayana, the last of a forgotten race with the power to merge with shadows. In a morally complex sci-fi universe, you must uncover the truth about your ancestry and its connection to the powerful megacorporation, Helios.
If you like Aragami or you are a fan of stealth games, you should definitely check this out!
No Rest for the Wicked
Moon Studios, known for the beautiful Ori series, are bringing their talent to a darker, more action-focused world. The year is 841, and a ruthless plague known as the Pestilence has returned, threatening to consume the entire kingdom. You play as Madrigal Seline, a ruthless but devoted member of the church sent to cleanse the corrupted lands.
It will feature a fast-paced, challenging combat inspired by games like Dark Souls and Monster Hunter. Inspired by souls-like combat, timing, stamina management, and learning enemy patterns will be crucial.
Early reviews for the game are mostly positive so far and it looks like many of us will have “No Rest” when the game releases on April 18.

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU
Tales of Kenzera is a 2.5D metroidvania with a focus on rhythmic combat. With the popularity of metroidvania games in the last few years, we have seen all the possible combinations and permutations.
But this game still manages to be unique and play a little differently. The demo is available for this game and the gameplay is great. Follow the heartfelt story of Zau, a young shaman grieving the loss of his father (Baba). He strikes a bargain with the God of Death, Kunga, to bring his father back.
You will play through the vibrant 2.5D environments, with exploration, backtracking, and unlocking new abilities. You will also use powers from the Sun and Moon to defeat spirits in combat focusing on timing and flow.
Another Crab’s Treasure
Yes, this is a souls-like game! Expect challenging combat inspired by souls-like games, where stamina management, parries, and precise dodges are key. However, you’re a crab! Instead of armor, you must scavenge for trash to use as protective shells.
In Another Crab’s Treasure, you play as Kril, a humble hermit crab whose shell home has been repossessed. Embark on an epic quest across a polluted ocean floor to find the treasure you need to buy back your precious shell…and maybe uncover some dark secrets along the way.
Manor Lords
Manor Lords is a passion project created by Slavic Magic, putting remarkable care and detail into every feature. While it is in Early Access, the game actively develops with community feedback.
Manor Lords aims to create the ultimate medieval experience, blending in-depth city-building with large-scale, tactical battles. It sets itself apart with a focus on historical realism and organic development without artificial restrictions.
Every aspect, from architecture to crop rotation techniques, aims to reflect the challenges and realities of life in 14th-century Europe. Troop formations, morale, flanking, fatigue, and weather all impact the outcome of warfare.
You need to maintain your citizens’ well-being by managing resources, responding to the changing seasons, and dealing with events like plagues or bandit raids.
Sand Land
Sand Land is a classic action-adventure RPG from the world of the Sand Land manga. You will immerse yourself in the quirky characters and unique humor that are hallmarks of Akira Toriyama’s work (Rest in Peace).
In a world where water is a scarce and precious resource, follow the adventure of Beelzebub, the fiend prince, and his unlikely companions, thief Giran and the fearless Sheriff Rao.
Being an action RPG, it has good combat, puzzles, and exploration. You will traverse expansive desertscapes in custom-built, upgradeable vehicles to uncover hidden areas and find new routes. Your companions bring their own unique skills and personalities, helping you throughout the adventure.

Unleash devastating combos, explore a ravaged world, and unravel a complex conspiracy. With its fluid combat and gorgeous visuals, Stellar Blade promises an intense and unforgettable sci-fi experience on the PS5.
Games porting to other platforms
Sea of Thieves (PS5)
If you’ve always dreamed of hoisting the Jolly Roger, exploring tropical islands, and unearthing hidden loot, this is your chance to join the high seas mayhem. Get ready for hilarious and breathtaking voyages as Sea of Thieves releases on PlayStation on April 30th.
Grounded (PS5, Switch)
Grounded shrinks you down to the size of an ant, trapped in a vast and dangerous backyard. With everyday objects now towering over you, your mission is to survive and unravel the mystery behind your sudden shrinkage.
