CPU performance of Exynos 1280
The CPU of the Exynos 1380, consists of 4 high-powered A78 cores running at up to 2.4GHz and four efficient A55 cores running at 2 GHz, offers solid CPU performance.
Multicore CPU performance is one of the biggest gains for Exynos 1380 compared to 1280.
Instead of 2 high-performance cores like in 1280, 1380 has 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. Resulting in around 20-30% performance gains for the CPU.
Samsung also said that they improved microarchitecture design along with efficiency with precise power control.
1380’s Octa-core CPU is managed by an advanced scheduler that allocates tasks to the CPU for speed and power efficiency in real time.
Coming to other aspects of SoC (System on Chip), Samsung has finally upgraded the RAM and storage memory of the Exynos 1380.
1380 now supports both LPDDR4X and LPDDR5 RAM types. Plus, the storage memory is upgraded to UFS v3.1 up from UPS v2.2 in 1280.
All of these improvements enable the Exynos 1380 to deliver up to approximately 40% faster execution speed, 20% faster game loading, and 30% powerful multicore performance, when compared to Exynos 1280
As a result, devices equipped with the Exynos 1380 should offer great performance in day-to-day tasks.
Exynos offers adequate CPU performance for a mid-range device. It should not face any hiccups in normal day-to-day usage.
GPU performance of Exynos 1380
On the GPU side, the graphics processing unit (GPU) of 1380 is powered by the Arm Mali-G68 MP5, which is the same as that of the predecessor Exynos 1280.
Also, the exact GPU frequency hasn’t been mentioned officially by Samsung
But, this is no bummer. As, Samsung has improved the GPU in other areas – the new GPU has more shading and execution units than 1280.
Additionally, the new upgraded storage is faster with UFS 3.1 which again helps with better gaming performance.
Giving Exynos 1380 an overall 20% improvement over Exynos 1280 in terms of gaming and Graphic intensive tasks.
While not at elite level, still Exynos 1380 would provide an overall good gaming experience and will perform decent for graphic-intensive tasks.
Overall, the GPU will show good performance in low to medium level games. However, it will still struggle with high-end games but less than the predecessor.
Samsung’s improved AI capabilities also merit mentioning. They enable more advanced language recognition for voice assistance and enhanced image recognition.
Camera and Video capabilities of Exynos 1380
The 1380 can support up to a 200MP sensor, a substantial increase from its predecessor 1280.
It can also handle triple camera setups up to 16 MP and 4K video recording at 30 fps.
The Exynos 1380 also features the advanced Triple Image Signal Processor (ISP), which takes some hints from Flagship phones.
The ISP offers features like
- 200MP image sensor support,
- zero shutter-lag at up to 64MP,
- High Dynamic Range, and Electronic Image Stabilization.
AI integration into ISP
With cutting-edge AI imaging technology, the Exynos 1380 can recognize various objects to provide optimal image processing of each object, resulting in great photo quality.
Display, 5G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NPU, and battery performance of Exynos 1230
