Remnant 2 PC System Requirements Analysis: Can your system play it?

Remnant 2 is an upcoming third-person shooter, a souls-like, sequel to Remnant: From the Ashes. The story continues in the second game where you will explore multiple worlds to put an end to the Root.

Published by Gearbox Studios and developed by Gunfire Games, the first game was optimized well, and users encountered no significant bugs or performance issues. Given all the bad optimized and unfinished games lately, we hope Remnant 2 does optimizations well. With that, let’s analyze the Remnant 2 PC system requirements.

Remnant 2 minimum system requirements

The minimum requirements seem pretty modest, however, the CPU requirements seem to be a little more demanding than the GPU requirements. Here are the Remnant 2 minimum system requirements:

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-7600 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 1650 / AMD Radeon RX 590
  • Storage: 80 GB available space
  • OS: Windows 10

Since there is no information on what resolution and frame rate this is targeting, we can assume it to be at 720p resolution with medium settings at 60FPS or 1080p lowest settings with 60FPS. The two processor requirements given are quite far apart in performance.

The Intel i5-7600 is slower by around 40% compared to the Ryzen 5 2600 which is quite a lot of gap. Nevertheless, if you have any Intel i5 processor up to the 9th gen, you are good. Even if you have Intel i3 processors with 9th gen or above, you will have enough processing power for minimum specs.

On the AMD side, the performance of the Ryzen 5 2600 is much higher than that of Intel’s counterpart. Considering similar performance, you will probably be okay with the likes of Ryzen 3 3100, and Ryzen 3 2300X. If you have anything above Ryzen 5 3600, you will fulfill the game’s recommended specs.

On the GPU side, having the likes of GTX 1650, AMD RX 6400, or Intel Arc A380 will fulfill the minimum specs. Since we don’t exactly know the target framerate and resolution, we can assume that GPUs like GTX 1660, GTX 1650 Super, RX 480, and RX 580 will run well with 1080p low settings.

Again, the GPU for AMD is about 40% faster than the Intel counterpart which begs the question whether they only had that GPU at hand or does AMD magically require 40% more performance.

The recommended settings don’t look too demanding but since we don’t know what resolution it is targeting, it most likely seems to be 1080p highest settings at 60FPS.

  • Processor: Intel i5-10600k / AMD R5 3600
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce RTX 2060 / AMD Radeon RX 5700
  • Storage: 80 GB available space
  • OS: Windows 10

The CPU requirement is modest. If you have anything with Intel i5 10th gen or above or even i3 with 11th gen or higher, you are good to go. With AMD, anything above Ryzen 5 3600 looks to be fulfilling the recommended specs.

The recommended GPU is RTX 2060 and RX 5700 which are very close in performance. It is also interesting to note that it is twice as powerful as GTX 1650 which is the minimum specs.

If you have RTX 2060 Super, RTX 3060, RX 6600/XT, or GTX 1080Ti you fulfill the recommended settings. Anything above RTX 3070 will most probably give you 1440p or 4K experience.

Remnant 2 memory and storage requirements

There is no mention of SSD being a requirement but SSD is recommended nevertheless. Even if you have HDD, it doesn’t look like it will be a problem (apart from slow loading). You will require 80GB of space which is quite a big jump given the first game takes up less than 40GB of space.

Having 16GB RAM is the sweet spot for most gamers and it seems that you will be fine with 16GB of RAM even at recommended specs.

Conclusion

The specifications do not look that demanding and it is not known if the game will have DLSS or FSR support. Although, it doesn’t look like it will be a problem to run this game even with an older, modest PC. If the game is optimized as well as the first game, you will have a great time playing the game.

Remnant 2 is releasing on July 26. Meanwhile, you can check some of the most anticipated games of July.
