  • Will most probably feature Adreno 735 GPU
  • It is a “flagship” processor which will be aimed at mid-range flagship phones

Update: Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is now officially launched.

Qualcomm has recently teased the launch of a new Snapdragon processor, sparking rumors and speculation about its features and capabilities.

This new processor is mostly the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. How do we know that? All the leaks that we got last month on a new processor at works at Qualcomm. Smartphone insider Digital Chat Station dropped a hint about a new Qualcomm Snapdragon chip codenamed “SM8635”.

Folks are thinking it might be the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 – a slightly toned-down (and likely cheaper) version of the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Here’s what we know so far:

  • Possible Name: Snapdragon 8s Gen 3
  • Positioning: This processor is speculated to be a cheaper, “sub-flagship” version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, potentially targeting the mid-range phone segment.
  • Launch Date: The rumored launch date for the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is March 18th, 2024.
  • Rumored Specifications:
    • CPU: The chip might come with a Cortex-X4 prime core clocked at 3.01 GHz.
    • GPU: The Adreno 735 GPU is a possibility.

The “s” in front of 8 indicates that it will be faster than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 but it will be slower, about 10-15%. By offering a less powerful but more affordable option, Qualcomm can cater to a broader range of phone manufacturers and price points.

It’s important to remember that the technical details are just speculations at this point. We’ll have to wait for the official announcement from Qualcomm to confirm the exact specifications, pricing, and target market for the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.
