The Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live show has concluded. The main showcase lasted two hours and featured a variety of trailers and announcements for upcoming games. If you missed the show, you can find all the trailers below.
The preshow for Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live kicked things off with a wave of trailers, including one for Street of Rogue 2, which is scheduled to be released in 2024. The main show mostly showcased new trailers and gameplay for already announced games.

Live action trailer and new gameplay details for Starfield
After Inon Zur, the composer of Starfield, performed a live musical piece, a live-action trailer for the game was shown. The trailer hinted at the spacefaring adventures that players can expect in the much-anticipated game, which is scheduled to be released on September 6 (or September 1 for those with Early Access).
Starfield director Todd Howard then joined Geoff Keighley on stage to discuss Bethesda’s first new universe in over 25 years and show off the game in action.
Little Nightmare 3 announced with first trailer
The long-awaited third installment in the Little Nightmares series has been officially announced, along with a spooky trailer that showcases co-op gameplay between two characters. The trailer also gives us a glimpse of the game’s dark and disturbing world, which is definitely not a place we would want to visit in real life.
In addition to the game announcement, the team also revealed that a new podcast series called The Sounds of Nightmares will be released later today. The podcast will tell a whole new story in the game’s universe, and it is sure to be a treat for fans of the series.
A new trailer for Black Myth Wukong -the action packed souls-like
Black Myth: Wukong is based on the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West by Wu Cheng’en. The trailer for Black Myth: Wukong begins with a headless human playing what appears to be a Sanxian instrument. The trailer also features an impressive action-packed gameplay.
Killing Floor 3 was announced with a new trailer
Killing Floor 3, a brutal and gory game, was announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live. The trailer for the game was just as brutal and gory, showcasing some of the horrifying enemies that players will face when the game is released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Killing Floor 2 was released in 2016 and received positive reviews from critics and players alike.
The trailer for Age of Empires 4: Anniversary Edition was shown at Gamescom 2023 ONL with its arrival of Xbox Console
The Age of Empires IV Anniversary Edition is now available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Xbox Game Pass. This version of the game will feature new native controller support, a new tutorial for console players, and more.
Crimson Black from Pearl Games gets a lengthy gameplay trailer
A lengthy gameplay trailer was revealed that gives a good idea of what players can expect from this game like sword combat, bow and arrow combat, fighting on horseback, toppling structures, carriage hijacking, fishing, and more!
The gameplay trailer also showed off the game’s vast open world, which is full of different environments to explore, from lush forests to snow-capped mountains. Players will be able to take on quests, battle enemies, and complete challenges as they explore the world.
Payday 3 gives a small glimpse at a Heist in the game
The trailer was introduced by Ice-T who voices one of the characters in the game and the trailer showed a glimpse of Port Jersey Heist. Payday 3 is one of the best games releasing in September 2023 and will be released on September 21.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage gears up for its release in October with new trailer showcasing the city of Baghdad
The trailer showcases from cinematic shots from the game and a look at the “Round City” of Baghdad. Assassin’s Creed releases on October 8. The trailer also mentioned a pre-order bonus with an exclusive quest.
Tekken 8 gets a brand new trailer
Tekken 8 has a brand new trailer showcasing 32 fighters and a new single-player mode called Arcade Quest. If you’re ready to brawl, you’ll have to wait until its release on January 26, 2024.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 gets an extended look at the gameplay
It is the first direct sequel in the Modern Warfare series and will be available to play on November 10, 2023. Fans of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 were given a detailed look at the gameplay of the game’s first level, Operation 627. While it was exciting to see the game in action, the biggest news was that players will be transported to Verdansk, the setting of the original Warzone.
Survival crafting, open-world game, Nightingale gets a trailer reveal
A new trailer for the Victorian, shared-world survival crafting game Nightingale was released at Gamescom 2023. The game’s Early Access release date has been pushed back from this autumn to February 22, 2024.
In Nightingale, players take on the role of a Realmwalker who can travel through portals to different procedurally-generated realms. Each realm is filled with its own unique challenges and rewards, including survival-crafting gameplay, quests, an evolving narrative, and more.
A trailer for fantasy game – Grandblue Fantasy Relink
Continuing with the fantasy theme, the trailer for Granblue Fantasy Relink was shown. This adventure game is scheduled to be released on PlayStation on February 1, 2024.
Zenless Zone Zero Trailer
Created by Hoyoverse, the studio which made the Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact are back with another urban fantasy RPG.
Hoyoverse also gave an update on Honkai Star Rail ahead of its Playstation release and an update on Genshin Impact’s new area – Fountaine.
Lords of Fallen gets a new story trailer
Lords of Fallen is a sequel to “Lords of Fallen”, I know, very confusing! It is another dark fantasy, RPG with souls-like elements. It is releasing soon on October 8.
Sega showcases a trailer for Sonic Superstars and new update for Sonic Frontiers The Final Horizon
Sega revealed that Sonic Superstars, a new 2D Sonic game with local co-op for up to four players and online free-for-all Battle Mode, will be released on October 17, 2023.
Sonic Frontiers, the open-world Sonic game, will also receive a free update called The Final Horizon later this year. The update will add a new story, new playable characters, and new challenges.
Trailer for The First Descendant
The First Descendant is a next-gen, third-person, co-op action RPG shooter that uses Unreal Engine 5 to deliver high-quality graphics. Players can team up with up to 3 other players to take on strategic boss fights, using various unique characters and exciting gunplay.
The game also features a loot system that allows players to customize their characters and weapons. A cross-platform open beta for which will be held from September 19 to 25, 2023.
Under the Waves gets a launch trailer
Under the Waves is a narrative-driven adventure game developed by Parallel Studio and published by Quantic Dream. The game is set in the techno-futuristic 1970s and follows the story of Stan, a professional diver who is struggling to overcome a life-changing loss. Players will explore the depths of the North Sea and the human psyche as they help Stan come to terms with his grief and embrace a new future.
A launch trailer for Fort Solis
Saber Interactive announced Expedition: A Mudrunner, an off-roading driving simulator
Another game from Saber Interactive, the people behind Snowrunner and Mudrunner. Saber Interactive have announced Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game, a new off-road driving simulator.
The game will allow players to explore vast and varied environments, using a variety of vehicles to overcome challenging terrain. Players will also be able to use drones and metal detectors to find hidden treasures and complete objectives.
Crew Motorfest gets a launch gameplay trailer – releasing in September
It will be released on September 14, 2023. If you want to try it out before it launches, there will be a five-hour free trial available from September 14 to 17.
A new look at the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, the Phantom Liberty and an update on new things coming to the game
CD Projekt Red released a new gameplay trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, and confirmed that all players will get access to the version 2.0 update, which includes a lot of improvements to the base game.
The trailer gave us another look at Phantom Liberty, which will be released on September 26, and teased a ton of exciting things, including:

Developed by former Activision Blizzard developers, gave fans a sneak peek at the Infernal Host, a demonic alien race that will be playable alongside the Human Vanguard. The ONL showcase featured new images and a behind-the-scenes video that explored the Infernal Host’s lore and gameplay mechanics.
Last Epoch Runemaster – First Look
Lost Epoch, an action RPG developed by Eleventh Hour Games. The game’s upcoming Runes of Power update will introduce a new class, the Runemaster, which will be available on September 7th.

Ara History Untold, a turn-based strategy game where players build a civilization through an alternative history, is slated for release in 2024.
Diablo 4’s second season, called the Season of Blood, will add a new companion, the Vampire Hunter.
In the upcoming Season of Blood, players will be able to team up with a new vampire hunter companion, Erys, voiced by Gemma Chan. They will also be able to embark on a new questline, learn new vampiric powers, battle 5 new endgame bosses, and more efficiently manage their gems.
Dustborn announced with a new trailer
Dustborn is an upcoming single-player narrative-driven game set in an alternative history of the United States. This cel-shaded game is developed by Red Thread Games and is scheduled to be released in early 2024.
Panic Inc. announces Thank Goodness You’re Here – a weird slapstick comedy
Panic Inc., the publisher of Untitled Goose Game, has announced a new game called Thank Goodness You’re Here. The game has a distinctive hand-drawn art style and a quirky, offbeat humor. The trailer shows a variety of strange and funny moments, such as a person’s pants falling down while they are looking at a sign that says “normal milk,” and someone bouncing off another person’s butt.
Gamescom 2023 Opening Night ended with an update for Alan Wake 2
A new trailer for Alan Wake 2 was released, giving players a glimpse of what the titular author has been up to in the Dark Place and where the game might be taking him. Developed by Remedy Entertainment, the game’s release date has been pushed back to October 27, 2023 to avoid clashing with other releases.
Gamescom 2023 ONL started with a brand new trailer for Streets of Rouge 2 – an RPG
Streets of Rogue 2 is a highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning 2019 indie game Streets of Rogue. The game is a crazy, immersive RPG sandbox set in a randomly generated open world. It will be released in 2024 and is expected to dial the craziness up to eleven.
