It is an understatement to say that GTA is an extremely popular game. It is one of the biggest games and the face of the gaming industry with fans across generations. GTA 5 was last released in 2013 and we have eagerly awaited the next installment.
Up until now, Rockstar Games had only hinted at the fact that GTA 6 was under development back in February 2022. Apart from that, there was no official news and things were kept pretty tight.
GTA 6 is releasing its first trailer in early December
On Wednesday, Rockstar Games announced that they will release a trailer for GTA 6 in December coinciding with their 25th Anniversary. People speculated a lot of dates for the trailer release, but did no one think that they would do this on their 25th anniversary?
Rockstar Games have confirmed the release of the first trailer on December 5. It will be released at 7 AM EST (7.30 PM IST).
Update: The first trailer has been released and the game is scheduled to release in 2025, at least for PS5 and Xbox Series S|X. The PC release timeline has not been revealed yet.
GTA 6 Maps
GTA 6’s map is still a mystery, but rumours suggest that it will be set in Vice City and the surrounding state of Florida. The leaked “Project Americas” map may not be entirely accurate, but it suggests that the map will be huge, larger than the maps of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 combined.
GTA 6 is rumoured to have a massive map that spans multiple continents, including Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City, and Europe. Industry analyst Michael Pachter has claimed that the map will be the biggest Rockstar sandbox map yet, and bigger than any of their previous efforts.

GTA 6 massive leaks
On September 18, 2022, there was a massive GTA 6 leak that saw dozens of videos and screenshots from an alleged in-development build of the game spread online. Rockstar has since confirmed the hack and stated that it is “extremely disappointed” to have any details of its next game shared in this way.
The GTA Forums and the dedicated GTA 6 subreddit have both worked to scrub all remnants of the leaked material from their sites. Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar, has also spoken out about the leak, calling it “terribly unfortunate” and saying that it takes such incidents “very seriously indeed.”
GTA 6 Release Date
As of now, there is no official release date. We might get an official release date with the trailer drop in December. The release can mostly be targeting a holiday 2024 release or early 2025 release. It is unlikely that release will be beyond 2025 but we can’t say anything given the scope of the project.
GTA 6 Gameplay and Characters
Rockstar Games has not yet confirmed the story or characters of GTA 6, but reports and rumours suggest that the game will feature the series’ first female protagonist and be set in a modern-day version of Miami.
The protagonist will be a Latina woman, and the game will be influenced by the story of Bonnie and Clyde. Rockstar is also making an effort to create a more inclusive and progressive game and has avoided making jokes about marginalized groups.
