The biggest update that the iPad got is its processor. Although, it is not powered by the latest Apple’s A15 chip like in the new 6th gen iPad Mini, it is still powered by the A13 Bionic chip.

A13 is still a comparetively powerful chip and is a great upgrade from A12 Bionic Chip used in iPad 8th generation. Even with the newer, more powerful processor, the new iPad retains its all-day battery life, claims Apple.

That’s not all. The new iPad has got an update in the display and camera too.

While it carries the standard retina display from its predecessor, the new iPad has something called “True Tone”. It adjusts the screen content display according to the room you are in. Apple says that this will make content on the screen appear more natural and provides a more comfortable viewing experience.

In the camera department, the front camera now features an Ultra-wide 12MP camera compared to 1.2 MP in earlier gen iPad.

The new iPad also adds a new feature called Center Stage. Center Stage automatically pans the camera to keep the users in view whenever they move around. It also smoothly zooms out when the camera detects other users join in to include them in the conversation.

This is an interesting update because this makes the video call overall more natural and engaging.

Software and User Interface

The new iPad features iPadOS 15 which comes with significant new updates. Here are few new features it has.

  • Even more intuitive multitasking with features like Split View and Slide Over, easier to discover and use.
  • Personalize iPad experience and organize apps with new widget layouts for the Home Screen and App Library.
  • Translate app comes to iPad with new features that make conversations easier and more natural, including Auto Translate and face-to-face view.
  • Automatically filter notifications based on your activity, such as working, reading, playing games, or sleeping.
