Best Games Releasing in February 2024

2024 had a decent start with some surprise hits in January. Palworlds took the internet by storm as it was dubbed “Pokemon clone”. Whether it is or not is a different matter but it gave us an exciting start in the gaming world.

February has some big games and a lot of other AA titles as well. Here are some of the most anticipated games releasing in February 2024.

Helldivers 2

Developed by Arrowhead Games and published by Sony, Helldivers 2 is a third-person squad-based shooter. The game takes place in a dystopian future where various alien races threaten humanity. Players take on the role of Helldivers, elite soldiers tasked with defending humanity and spreading democracy across the galaxy.

The game features a strategic meta-campaign where players choose missions and objectives to progress, ultimately working towards liberating the galaxy from alien oppression.

The gameplay is mainly focused around co-op where you need to strategise and play together to complete the objectives. It features a deep strategic layer, with players choosing from a variety of weapons, gadgets, and vehicles to suit their playstyle.

Put in some over-the-top action, humour and fun co-op gameplay, you get an entertaining game.

Persona 3 Reload

Persona 3 Reload is a remake of the classic PlayStation 2 JRPG, Persona 3. The game takes place in the fictional Japanese city of Iwatodai, where a hidden hour known as the Dark Hour exists between midnight and 1:00 AM. During this time, shadows, monstrous creatures born from humanity’s dark subconscious, roam free and prey on humans.

You play as the protagonist, a transfer student who awakens to his Persona, Orpheus, and joins the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES), a group of students who fight shadows during the Dark Hour.

As you battle shadows and investigate the mysteries of the Dark Hour, you must also navigate your social life, attending school, building relationships with your fellow SEES members, and managing your time wisely.

Persona 3 was released on PS2 and it was a good game but it hasn’t aged very well in terms of its gameplay and visuals. Persona 3 Reload offers a chance for new players to experience this classic with modern visuals and gameplay improvements.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Banishers is an action RPG with a focus on narrative. The game takes you to the year 1695 in New Eden, a world plagued by a malevolent curse that traps spirits in the realm of the living. You play as Red and Antea, two Banishers, trained spirit hunters responsible for protecting the living from these lingering specters.

However, tragedy strikes when Antea herself becomes a ghost, forcing you to make a heart-wrenching choice: uphold your oath to protect the living by banishing her spirit, or defy your vows and seek a way to bring her back, even if it means putting others at risk.

You can switch between Red, a skilled fighter who wields conventional weapons, and Antea, a spectral being with unique ghost-like abilities. This allows for diverse combat styles and puzzle-solving approaches.

Developed by DONTNOD, the game comes from the acclaimed studio behind narrative-driven hits like Life is Strange and Vampyr, ensuring a captivating story and memorable characters.

What looks like a different take of Splatoon, this looks like a whole lot of fun.

Foamstars is a 4v4 online party shooter developed by Toylogic and published by Square Enix. It’s a lighthearted and chaotic game where players use foam blasters to attack and build terrain, creating a dynamic battlefield.

The game features multiple game modes, including team deathmatch, objective-based battles, and a unique mode called “Happy Bath Survival” where players fight with foam bats inside an arena while their teammates support them from outside.

Ultros

Metroidvania games are in fashion and there are a lot of them but, this one looks different. Developers have dubbed it as “psychedelic metroidvania”, the visuals look very interesting.

Awakening in the aftermath of a spacecraft crash on The Sarcophagus, an immense cosmic womb containing the ancient demonic being ULTROS, you find yourself ensnared in an unending cycle within the gravitational grip of a black hole.

Rooted in science fiction, ULTROS is enveloped in a distinctive art style and features a mystical soundtrack by the visionary El Huervo, celebrated for his contributions to Hotline Miami.

Skull and Bones

Inspired by the pirate ship and battle from the Assassin’s Creed Blackflag, Skull and Bones has been in development for a very long time. It is finally releasing and we are all excited.

kull and Bones is an action-adventure game that focuses on ship battle. You will explore vast and diverse Indian Ocean filled with lush islands, treacherous storms, and hidden coves. Each location offers unique challenges and rewards, from resource-rich trading ports to heavily guarded Spanish galleons laden with gold.

The early beta reviews are mixed but mostly on the positive side which makes us hopeful that this game is fun and good.

Nightingale

You play as a young driver who finds themself drawn to the Exclusion Zone, determined to unravel its mysteries. Your only companion is your beat-up station wagon, which you must repair and upgrade to survive the treacherous environment and the metallic creatures that lurk within.

Pacific Drive combines elements of driving, exploration, survival, and combat to create a unique and engaging gameplay experience. It also has an underlying mystery to the world that you must uncover.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Fans of DC and superhero games have been waiting for a long time for this game. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a third-person, action-adventure game with a multiple squad members.

Something akin to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, you will play as the Suicide Squad tasked with assassinating the Justice League. You can play as Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark, each with their own distinct combat styles, abilities, and traversal options.

Developed by Rocksteady Studios, the acclaimed creators of the Batman: Arkham series, the game promises high-quality action and immersive world-building. You can also team up with online friends to play it in co-op mode.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Final Fantasy 7 REbirth is the second installment in the remake of the classic Final Fantasy 7 game. FF 7 Rebirth will be an open-world game with many of the ideas and concepts taken from Final Fantasy 7.

It picks right after the events of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake which was a solid game and we can expect the same from Rebirth as well. You will see familiar faces – Tifa Lockhart, Aerith Gainsborough, and Barret Wallace return, bringing their own stories.
