Japan has always been fascinating with it’s weird and creative projects. Now, there is floating power plant.
Yes, Japanese Kyocera Corporation has announced the beginning of construction of the largest floating power plant with solar batteries. This will be the most powerful solar power plant in the world.
So it will look like this after the completion of the power plant.
This is the fourth floating power plant from Kyocera and the last of a series of innovative solar power plants. The new design will be located at the dam Yamakura and the plan should be ready for launch at the end of March 2018. After the commissioning of the power plant, it will produce 16,170 megawatt hours per year. This is equivalent to the energy produced from 19,000 barrels of oil and enough to fully provide energy to about 5,000 homes.
Kyocera has been making floating power plants since 2014, taking advantage of the fact that Japan has many lakes and water reservoirs. In March 2014 they launched two 1,700 MW and 1,200 megawatts power plants, and in March 2015 launched the third, with the capacity of 2,300 megawatts.
